Mushtak Khan and Dr. Vijay Chawla began their artistic journeys together at the Institute of Fine Arts, Gwalior, and later became associated with Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal, working on numerous survey and documentation projects under the guidance of renowned artist J. Swaminathan.

Dr. Vijay Chawla’s doctoral research focuses on the traditional art of the Gond and Baiga communities within their historical and mythological contexts. He later worked on design-development projects connected with the Madhya Pradesh Hastshilp Evam Hathkargha Vikas Nigam and the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.

Mushtak Khan continued his work at Roopankar, Bharat Bhavan, as Research Officer and In-charge of Archives, and later served as Deputy Director at the National Crafts Museum, New Delhi. Their combined experience brings more than four decades of research, documentation and close observation to this book.
