For a traveller exploring Central Europe, Czechia and Slovakia naturally combine into a single journey. Geographically, the countries sit in Central Europe, between Germany, Austria, Poland, and Hungary. Czechia is known for its gently rolling countryside, forests, rivers, historic towns, and mountain regions, while Slovakia is more mountainous. The High Tatras in northern Slovakia are particularly impressive, with rugged peaks, valleys and alpine scenery. Rivers such as the Vltava and Elbe are closely associated with the Czech lands, while the Danube passes through Slovakia and connects the country with several other European nations. This variety of landscapes lets travellers experience historic cities, castles, forests, mountains, and peaceful countryside on the same trip.
When planning a Czechia trip, we will take you to the most popular tourist sites based on overall visitor numbers. They are Prague, Český Krumlov, Karlovy Vary, Kutná Hora (can be covered in a half-day tour from Prague), Lednice–Valtice, Hluboká nad Vltavou, Karlštejn Castle, České Švýcarsko, Český ráj (Bohemian Paradise), and Moravský Kras – Moravian Karst. Together, they offer the best combination of historic towns, castles, architecture, and classic Czech scenery. In Czechia, we present only Prague in detail with colour photographs; the rest is shown with its must-visit spots. In Slovakia, we present Bratislava, the High Tatras, Banska Stiavnica, Spis Castle, Levoca, Kosice, Slovak Paradise National Park, Bardejov, Vlkolinec, and Orava Castle. In Slovakia, we cover only Bratislava in detail with colour photographs; the rest show their must-visit spots.
The book covers transport, including rail, Buses, and public transport, with an occasional rental car used only where it offers a clear advantage. It also covers country passes, including a global pass for both countries. The book also covers accommodation like hotels, homestays, B&Bs, and apartments in cities and towns in Slovakia and Czechia.
The book presents Prague, the capital of Czechia, and Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, in detail with photographs. Each place includes a Google Maps link and must-see highlights. The places covered are: Prague, Karlštejn Castle, Karlovy Vary, Český ráj, Kutná Hora, Hluboká Castle, České Budějovice, Český Krumlov, Moravian Karst and Lednice–Valtice Cultural Landscape in Czechia and Bratislava, Banská Štiavnica, Bojnice, Trenčín, Vlkolínec Village, Orava Castle, High Tatras, Poprad, Tatra National Park, Slovak Paradise National Park, Levoča, Spiš Castle, Košice and Bardejov Castle in Slovakia.

The costing is based on 2 people travelling together and staying in hotels/apartments/homestays/guest houses/holiday homes with private bathrooms and a rating of 7 or better out of 10. This calculation excludes airfare, travel insurance, and visa fees, as those depend on your departure and destination countries. Please add them to get the final expenditure. The itinerary starts in Prague and ends in Košice.
