Breathe With Me
Two lungs. One love. A story told in breaths.
Zeph Watson knows the sound of silence. He’s heard it in hospital rooms, in the quiet between heartbeats, and in the absence of a future he was never promised. Diagnosed with a rare lung disease, his life is measured not in years, but in inhalations. Art is his only escape — until he meets a girl who changes everything.
Kate Grant lives like she’s on borrowed time — because she is. Behind her wild laughter and sharp sarcasm is a heart still grieving the sister she lost and a body battling a terminal illness she refuses to let define her.
When Zeph and Kate meet inside the sterile walls of Saint Claire’s Memorial Hospital, their connection is instant — fierce, fragile, and forbidden. As their lungs fail, their hearts begin to fill with something no doctor can diagnose: hope.
Together, they write a love story in stolen minutes and shaky breaths. A promise to live before they die. A journey to Kyoto to chase cherry blossoms — and maybe, a last chance at forever.
But some stories aren’t meant to last.
They’re meant to breathe
A beautiful fragile journey
“Breathe With Me” by Aryan Singh Charak is a beautifully written, emotionally charged debut that explores love, illness, grief, and the fragile magic of breath. The story of Zeph and Kate is tender, bittersweet, and filled with poetic depth — especially in its quieter moments. You can tell the author poured his heart into every line.
The metaphors are touching, the hospital setting is authentic, and the cherry blossom scenes feel cinematic. Some monologues truly stay with you — soft, aching, and honest.
However, at times, the pacing feels a bit uneven, especially in the middle chapters where some emotional arcs could’ve been tighter. There are also a few repetitive phrases and formatting slips (common in debut works), but they don’t take away from the heart of the story.
Overall: A heartfelt first novel that shows immense potential. If you enjoy stories like Five Feet Apart or The Fault in Our Stars, this will definitely resonate.
