Material selection is a key factor influencing the performance, efficiency, and cost of robotic
systems. Conventional robotic arms are commonly manufactured using metals such as steel or
aluminum, which provide high strength but often increase overall weight and energy
consumption. This study investigates the use of fiberglass-reinforced composite material as an
alternative for constructing a lightweight robotic arm while maintaining sufficient structural
integrity for moderate load applications. The work begins with the conceptual design of a multidegree-of-freedom robotic arm, where emphasis is placed on reducing mass without
compromising stability.
