Bhagirathananda is a Parivrajaka (a lone wandering seeker) - in a car. For the last ten years he has been traveling in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand and knows this part of the Himalaya reasonably well; taxi drivers consult him about short-cuts, motor ability of roads and flimsy bridges. But he never gives any advice on ‘bridges’.
He also travels to places of Pilgrimage, Confluences, Temples, Gurudwaras, Dargahs and Shrines. Sometimes, he just sits in his room and closes his eyes and travels far and wide.
In another life, he was born in Calcutta, India in 1955. After graduating with Honours in Economics from Presidency College, Calcutta University, he spent more than twenty five years in Trade and Commerce working in different parts of the world. He was an eye-witness to tumultuous times in Russia and Eastern Europe and traded intensely and often wildly between these countries and South East Asia.
At forty nine, he read the Gita for the first time, retired from business and was re-born.
He now divides his time between Delhi, where his wife lives and works and San Francisco where his two daughters are raising robust families. He does some considerable ‘vagabonding’ in between, for which his trading incarnation has financed him.
This book is about Bhagirathananda’s journey.
