Jeevakarunya Nirupanam by Chattampi Swami was first serialized in five issues of M N Nair Masika in 1936.There is no other work that establishes scientifically and with the strength of logic the principle of non-violence. According to Swami violence has two characteristics. Giving pain as well as hindering one’s way to its happiness. Giving pain is seen only in living beings but hindering or delaying is there in living and nonliving things. The message contained in the book can be summed up like this. The world is built upon Non violence. If the animals are created for the use of man to kill and eat them, lion, tiger, panther etc should eat man and we have to agree that man is created to serve as their food. Animals like lion eat raw meat. It is natural for them. But humans eat food after cooking it by adding different spices. Hence it is to be considered that meat etc is not the natural food of man.
