The apical third of the root canal system is a critical region whose anatomical complexity significantly influences endodontic outcomes. Variations such as the apical constriction, accessory canals, apical deltas, and apical foramen configurations present challenges in diagnosis, cleaning, shaping, and obturation. Recent advances in magnification, CBCT imaging, nickel–titanium instrumentation, irrigation protocols, and bioceramic obturation materials have improved the clinician’s ability to manage this region effectively. Nevertheless, the apical third remains the most difficult area to access and treat predictably. Successful management depends on a thorough understanding of apical anatomy, accurate working length determination, effective disinfection, and the achievement of a reliable apical seal. Continued research and technological innovations are expected to further enhance treatment outcomes and long-term endodontic success.

Dr. Attur had completed his BDS from HKE Society SNijalingappa Institute of Dental Science and Research, Gulbarga, Karnataka and MDS from PMNM Dental College and Hospital, Bagalkot, Karnataka. With a rich career marked by mentoring prolific research, published numerous articles as well as books. Dr. Attur is also a Ph.D guide and had many patent registered under his name. Dr. Attur's influence extends far beyond the classroom and clinic, shaping the future of dental care.

Dr. Karna Jani seamlessly blends theoretical depth with practical insights, making his work both intellectually stimulating and accessible. He completed his Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Dental College, Solapur, and subsequently pursued his Master of Dental Surgery (MDS) at the College of Dental Sciences and Research Centre (CDSRC) in Bopal, Ahmedabad. Dr. Jani’s passion and commitment to the field have not only captivated the academic community but have also generated widespread anticipation among readers.

Dr. Nikunj Patel, seamlessly blends theoretical depth with practical insights, making their work both intellectually stimulating and accessible. He is a professor at Narsinhbhai Patel Dental College and Hospital, Sankalchand Patel University, Visnagar. Dr.Nikunj Patel had pursued BDS and MDS from Narsinhbhai Patel Dental College and Hospital, Sankalchand Patel University, Visnagar. Dr.Nikunj currently pursuing PHD from Sankalchand Patel University.
