It is a poem as to how a cuckoo bird born in a crow's nest alienated by crows goes about into forest when it could fly to find who its real parents are as the crows are not like it. While the crows chase it to get it back home.
It makes a friend in a parrot and lives happily singing. Saddened by the death of its friend parrot later, it feels life is no longer worth living without parents and friends, when a deer endears it and makes the bird happy again.
Finally the cuckoo realizes that it should not be worried any more for its parents when the whole forest is its mother and all the living beings are befriending it and loving its singing.
