This book is the translation of Bhagavad Gita Slokas from Sanskrit verses into Telugu colloquial language.
These are the words of Lord Sri Krishna. In this world, there are two paths for human life.
One is the selfish way, the path we are following now. "I, me and myself". Our education and jobs fully endorse this principle. We can't get out of it, so we can get along with it.
Another way is the path of self-knowledge. That is the way to know the “I” the soul. Lord Krishna showed this path to Vinaswantha at the time creation of this Universe. The same is repeated by Krishna Bhagavan once again to Arjuna at the beginning of the great war.
If we wish to know what the ‘soul’ is and think of how should we know it? then read the Bhagavad Gita.
Our education system is not giving priority to the Sanskrit language in the classroom. Therefore, many people just say the word ‘Bhagavad Gita’ but do not know what the content is. There is fear to open the book and absorb the knowledge. I have attempted to bring out this Bhagavad Gita knowledge Telugu linguistic knowledge. Spread the knowledge and make others learn the same.
There are 700/701 verses in the Bhagavad Gita. While writing, I have combined certain verses to bring out the content in one place.
Let's find out why we are lucky to get the knowledge of Bhagavad Gita.
Let us know the reasons for the Bhagavad Gita recited for us in the great Maha Bharatam. Before the Great Kurukshetra War, the sage Veda Vyas and many other sages tried to tell Dhritarashtra about the consequences of war. But Dhritarashtra did not listen. Before the war, the sage Veda Vyasa asked Dhritarashtra, if he wanted to see the war directly so that he would give that Divyadristhi (divine sight). Dhritarashtra said to give that power, to his charioteer, and minister, Sanjay.
Sage Vyasa blessed Sanjay and said, you can see the war directly, but nobody will know your presence, you can listen to their words, and you will know the thoughts in their minds. Thus, Sanjay got the divine power to see, listen and understand their thoughts in the great war.
Dhritarashtra was born blind and was the eldest of the Kuru clan. But because of being a blind man, he was given the throne, but the younger brother Panduraj was ruling the whole kingdom as a proxy. Brother Panduraj made a good reputation due to heroism and administration. This is not liked and appreciated by Dhritarashtra.
Panduraj was blessed with Dharmaraja as the elder and Bhimasen as the second child. Here again, Dharmaraja has become the eldest in the second generation of the Kuru clan. By then, Dhritarashtra was blessed with Duryodhana as the first child.
In this way, two blows have hit the mind of the blind man. One, even though he is an elder nobody considers him as king, second his younger brother had two children before he could have one. Dharmaraja deserves to gain the kingdom. All of this caused Dhritarashtra to be jealous, hateful, angry and intolerant towards Pandavas. Panduraj children are called Pandavas and Dhritarashtra children are called Kauravas.
You all know the next of Mahabharata. The war between Kaurava and Pandava has become inevitable. In the war, the list of warriors on Kaurava’s side was great. Some of them were unconquerable to anybody in the war, and their deaths were only decided by them. There is nobody on earth who can defeat Bhishma the ‘pitamaha’ in particular. It is a great strength in the mind of Dhritarashtra.
In the war on the tenth day, Bhishma fell. This is an unbelievable matter to the imagination of Dhritarashtra. Then he called Sanjay and asked him to narrate what happened in the war.
Sanjay being blessed by Sage Veda Vyasa narrates from the beginning how the war unfolded. The first of these was the Bhagavad Gita. The scene that took place before the war.
My word
Bhagavad Gita is a Sanskrit hymn. For these verses, I have done the Telugu translation in colloquial Telugu usage. That is, the conversation between Krishna and Arjuna is in our regular Telugu words. Hence there is no commentary for each verse, as you read you will understand what is said. But this needs deep thinking.
The Bhagavad Gita is a guide to our ‘way of life’. Every hymn tells us how to live life.
What is the difference between humans and God? It explains the difference. It also tells you how to eliminate that difference. That is why the Bhagavad Gita is the essence of the Vedas. Read and practice these things.
