Can childhood sweethearts grow up and marry and live happily ever after? Tanuj thinks so, but Ahilya does not. She has moved on, and is ready to marry another man and settle into the comfortable life she was exposed to while doing her studies abroad.
Tanuj, a fighter pilot posted at the edge of the Rajasthan desert, refuses to give up on her and travels home to Chennai to win her back before the wedding.
Unknowingly, their lives tangle with those on a self-destructive trajectory. Suddenly, their hopes and dreams are sucked into a dark tunnel of despair. Will there be light on the other side? Will Ahilya and Tanuj ever taste happiness together?
Excerpts from reviews of the author's debut novel, The Wheel Turned:
'Malathi's felicity with language, the occasional striking choice of admirable....her writing style is an interesting blend of crisp and simple descriptions...she offers the readers a gripping, fast paced novel. We do not look at the story; we enter into it and live with it.' (The Hindu Literary Review, June 6th 2010)
'There is no doubt that Malathi Ramachandran can write, and write well at that....' (Deccan Herald Sunday, June 13th 2010)
'A fascinating first time novel... a lovely read on a long train journey or simply to while away the afternoon....we recommend you go read this one...' (Mid Summer Reads, Femina, April 2010)
The novel, an easy stranger than fiction, yet so believable that it could be true. Riveting yet laid back, we recommend you catch this one! (Book of the Fortnight, Femina, January 2011)
