The terms “Quality Control” and “Quality Assurance” are often used interchangeably, but they are not synonymous. “Quality Assurance” is a program executed by company management; “Quality Control” is a task that takes place on the production floor. Two aspects are quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA). Understanding these programs, and their roles are critical in making sure the respective staffs carry out their duties effectively. There are three most important criteria for evaluating the Quality Control” of work, such as Cost, Time of delivery and Quality. Quality is the most important factor out of the three. Quality isn’t simply a cost. It is a powerful tool that contributes to the economic success of the work. Therefore, there is a need to control all three, but the quality is the most significant. Many manufacturers recognize that quality leads to a higher customer retention rate and helps to build competitive boundaries. However, the term quality by itself isn’t sufficient. Process Piping is that conveys the fluids and gases under pressure with or without temperature within the fence of a Petrochemical, Petroleum Refinery, Oil Rig and Gas Processing Plant and it falls under the scope of ASME B 31.3. Piping Systems and Pipe Lines are a complex arrangement of pipes of different sizes and schedules, valves of different sizes and classes, components of a multitude of designs and shapes, different types of supports, and process control instrumentation used for Oil & Gas Piping or Process Plant. Quality Control of Piping is a blend of essentials of Piping knowledge, welding fundamentals & Quality control inspection activities in Refineries, Petrochemicals and other engineering industries. This book “Piping Quality Control” has been essentially prepared to give a good deal of information to young and fresh engineers on international codes and maintain a Record of activity carried out by them including those from the American Petroleum Institute on the scope of NDT including ASME Sec V and other Codes, which cover the most applicable NDT methods such as Ultrasonic, Radiography, Magnetic Particle, Dye Penetrant, Visual & ASNT-The American Society for Non-destructive Testing is the most recognized credential for NDT. ASNT certification has been the standard for the non-destructive testing industry. ASNT certification is an impartial validation of the competence of NDT personnel for employers in the field. There are four Levels of ASNT certification programs currently available: (i) ASNT NDT Level III, (ii) ASNT Central Certification Program (ACCP), and (iii) ASNT NDT Level II, and (iv) Industrial Radiography and Radiation Safety Personnel (IRRSP).
