A research entitled “An Analytical Study of Financial Health of Selected CoOperative Banks in Ahmednagar District” was undertaken to analyze financial health of selected cooperative banks in Ahmednagar District. The objectives of the study included analyingz the financial health of selected cooperative banks from Ahmednagar district using key ratios, evaluating the financial health of selected cooperative banks from Ahmednagar district using CAMELS rating, analyzing the financial health of selected cooperative banks from Ahmednagar district using Altman’s Z-score model, comparing the results of analysis of financial health of the cooperative banks as revealed by ratio analysis, CAMELS rating, and Altman’s Zscore model, understanding the practical problems faced by the selected cooperative banks, and offering suggestions to improve the working of the cooperative banks. Eleven cooperative banks were selected for the study. Further 100 employees were surveyed through a questionnaire. Key individual and overall 11 banks ratios, compared with benchmark ratios, showed a major difference leading to p-values <0.0001 resulting in rejection of the first null hypothesis. CAMELS ratings for individual and overall 11 banks was generally 4, which was much higher than the norm of 2 resulting in rejection of the second null hypothesis. Altman’s Z-score for individual and overall 11 banks (1.26), was lesser than the threshold of 1.80, resulting in rejection of the third null hypothesis. All the three methods of analysis, namely, ratios, CAMESL rating, and Altman’s Z-score analysis lead to similar results and indicate that the financial health of the cooperative banks is not sound. Agreement percentage for practical problems faced by the cooperative banks was 88% and was found to be statistically significant with a p-value <0.0001. Overall it can be concluded that the selected cooperative banks from Ahmednagar district are not financially sound as indicated by multiple methods of analysis and are heading of failure unless immediate corrective actions are taken.
