One of the most commonly debated and a researched field in the today’s world is motivation. But if one drive towards a goal, objective or target, is having a positive motivation. Those who are highly motivated to achieve things in their lives are likely to be more fulfilled as they accomplish the things that are important to them in their lives.

All of us have a desire to achieve something in our lives. We want to know that we have achieved something important, of value, of quality, or of meaning. Being personally motivated to our goal means that we are able to:

• Enhance our self-discipline.
• Challenge ourselves to stretch beyond our perceived limits.
• Improve our self-confidence.
• Set examples for ourselves of what we can achieve.
• Reward ourselves for reaching our goals.
• Enjoy the recognition associated with reaching our goals.

The more that we are able to achieve; the more self-confident we become and vice versa. The opposite thing can happen if we are unable to achieving something, we may experience a dip in our self-confidence levels, which in turn impact our motivation to try again. Understanding this relationship between motivation and self-confidence is important if you want to be able to improve either trait in yourself.

Self-efficacy plays a vital role in generating the self-motivation. A person uses his forethought as a way to regulate his/her motivation by imagining what he/she believe, he/she can achieve. Then the person uses his/her cognitive skills to set goals for him/her and identify what steps are necessary to achieve those goals. Due to high self-efficacy, one will set high goals with the belief that he/she can achieve it but with low self-efficacy, the low goals will be set.
