Every so often, Spiritual aspirants misled by religious beliefs hold unreasonable fears regarding Sannyaasa, [the fourth stage of life]. Misdirected householders presume that abandoning home and family in search of Spiritual Upliftment is a prerequisite for Self-Realization. These imagined threats are lifted by understanding the innate qualities and the authentic journey of the Avadhuta [the Awakened one].
Avadhuta Upanishad, a minor Upanishad is one of the 20 Sannyaasa Upanishads, based on Renunciation.
'Dhuta' means 'to shed,' and 'Ava' means 'away.' 'Avadhuta' means the one whose 'I-sense' sheds away. 'Sannyaasa' is the fourth stage of life where maturity manifests as a natural renunciation of the false 'I'.
This Avadhuta Drishti book is neither a translation nor a commentary on the Avadhuta Upanishad, but a Direct Seeing. Different versions of the Upanishad have different number of verses. The portrayal in this book is of Direct Seeing of the verses depicting Sannyaasa, or the shedding of the 'I' on mature dispassion. Readers are reminded that Avadhuta Upanishad is different from the longer verse-based Avadhuta Gita.
