The Edwardian Stars is a novel on the social expectations of the late Edwardian era and coming of age tale on two girls. Josephine Evans, a poet and writer, and Ilse Hemmingson. Jo's family is poor, with her mother working late for money, and Ilse's mother has a driven obsession with social class. When Jo learns that she is heir to the British throne, she and Ilse, along with Mrs. Hemmingson, go across Europe and back to London's Althorp Estate when Jo learns that Ilse is going to die by scarlett Fever.
