Does "Anguish" mean the same as "Anxiety"? Was "Dinner" eaten at noon or at night in Kent's time? Many of the words in Kent's Mind chapter have changed meaning since the 1890s, and a rubric read with today's meaning can point to the wrong remedy.

This third edition follows each mind rubric back through the repertories it came from: from the repertory to Jahr's Manual (1838), through Lippe (1880) and Lee (1889), to Kent's own editions from 1897. It checks the rubric's words against Webster's dictionaries of 1828 and 1913, then links the rubric to the symptoms its remedies rest on: the provings, above all in Allen's Encyclopedia, and the cured cases, above all in Hering's Guiding Symptoms, with references to Hahnemann's own writings.
