Description
Life is all about constantly improving the way we live our lives by making effective changes with the goal of betterment of our physical as well as mental health. One thing that is common in all living organism on this planet is breathing, what separates us all is how consciously and effectively we breath. One start breathing from the moment he/she is born, and will continue to do so until one dies, or we can say one dies when one stops breathing. Breathing is an activity that is completely automatic, however, with one’s attention, it can be controlled. Not only does it sustain life, but it increases awareness, mindfulness, calmness, and love that ultimately leads one to be an always happy person. In this book, I have talked about how I improved my lifestyle just by befriending my breath and practicing conscious breathing. I experienced significant improvement in my mental health, physical health, work-life as well as personal life. Moreover, it has allowed me to synchronize my body, mind, and soul. Two other things that I have talked about in this book are “Goal Setting” and “Running”. Setting goals helps trigger new behaviours, helps guides your focus and helps you sustain that momentum in life. Goals also help align your focus and promote a sense of self-mastery. In the end, you can’t manage what you don’t measure and you can’t improve upon something that you don’t properly manage. Setting goals can help you do all of that and more. Another thing that I strongly believe is that everybody should run, because it can significantly improve physical and mental health. Moreover, as a form of aerobic exercise, running can reduce stress, improve heart health, and even help alleviate symptoms of depression. In the last two chapters I have discussed my journey of running with some more benefits as well as helpful techniques from beginners to ultra-runner. In the last, I’m elated to present you with this book with best wishes that it will help you as much as it helped me if not more.
Hello, I Am Gautam.
Here I will tell you a little bit about my journey from being a notorious student to a well-established businessman, who participates in various kinds of physical activities as well as practices ‘Conscious Breathing.’
I strongly believe in living life as joyfully as possible instead of competing in a rat-race. No different from my current nature, I spent a significant amount of time playing outdoor games and staying physically active in my childhood. I think that taught me a valuable lesson of challenging our body to stay fit and healthy early in my life, for which I am utterly grateful. I completed my post-graduation in Chemistry, but I saw the future in computers and started selling them in 2000 when they were not widely popular in India. However, I never stopped playing and challenging my body. No matter what my routine is, I always spare time to keep myself physically active, as it brings me joy and peace that no other thing does. In addition to staying physically active, one other thing I always spare time for is reading. I am deeply interested in philosophy, spirituality, and everything that helps me gap the distance between me and my inner-self. (some people identify it as God)
In my journey of finding myself, I came across the concept of ‘Conscious Breathing.’ When I first read that I could be breathing improperly, I was as surprised as you. But, when I thoroughly understood the concept and did some experiments with my ‘breath’, I realized there’s no better tool to synchronize your body, mind, and soul. As soon as I decided to take control of my breathing pattern and became one with my breath, my life changed significantly for the good. My routine didn’t change, but yet my life, and my perspective towards the world changed completely. That experience was no different than if a car could feel when it gets a new engine, I was filled with some divine energy that led me towards blissfulness, mindfulness, and made me happier as well as calmer.
I have experienced that to be one with the breath, one needs to befriend the breath, and to do that one needs to focus on it. This is an endless journey, but it is a very joyful journey. I assure you that if one focuses on his/her breath, it has the power to shape lives, and he/she will have such amazing experiences in life that would not let one distract from this path. In the journey of conscious breathing, one often experiences divinity and freedom, and I have experienced that many times. My eyes have often flooded with tears of joy, I felt that I just got everything. Many times, while walking or while driving, there were tears of joy in my eyes and I felt so much love, I still feel the same. Our love for every person, nature, and things grows. My father always used to tell me that we are ordinary people, friends today I realize how extraordinary it was of him to say that.
To feel blissfulness, one requires only breathing, one needs to be aware. In my opinion, all living creatures on this planet are unique, and extraordinary, because every person can experience happiness, love, and independence, and in that sense we all are extraordinary.
