“Darkness has just one color
and Love has many
yet, Love is always shaped in darkness”
“It is easy to Love when Love is effortless,
but when Love becomes dark,
that’s when you know that Love exists within”
Jaclyn was born and raised in the Netherlands. As a young child she moved a lot between foster families and foster homes. Collecting one experience after another, she tried to live her life, yet always in order to please others. Her first love was reading books and writing short stories, but as life kept throwing curveballs and when she became a mother at a young age, she decided not to pursue her passion, but to live a life that others claimed to be “successful” and “normal.”
While battling hard to continue living a life that wasn’t hers to live, she often grabbed her pen and notebook to write.
As a young child she never quite fit in. She was always the weird one and she hated always feeling misplaced. She strived to live a regular life, but she always got sick, mentally and physically. She had never learned to speak up about her mental health, let alone nurture it.
She never thought that making a living as a writer was an option, because she always believed that it was something that wasn’t hers to pursue. In 2010 she became very ill and started a journey of healing her body and in doing so she also opened a door to heal her past. But it was in 2020 when she transformed her healing into poetry. Anonymously she started her account on Instagram to release her words, unaware of a world she would find between the written lines and unspoken words.
In late 2020 she connected with other writers and other artists on the platform. And after being on a quest of seeking a home her entire life, she finally found her home within the stanzas of poetry. Being connected at this level with so many people was a new thing for her and before she knew it a community of strong, powerful and courageous women was formed.
Now that she has found her place in this world she reclaimed her own power because of the connections she had made. She learned to embrace her purpose and decided to start living her life for it.
Love has many colors is her debut in the world of poetry, but is her second book to be published. Her first book; De maan en jij , is a self-help book about connecting yourself with your ‘self’, with others and with nature.
She is a single mother of a teenage daughter. She is also a well-being coach, a writer, a human rights activist, a mental health advocate, founder of a worldwide women community and forever a student of the present moment.
