The Last Sentence

Shiny collects goodbyes.

Not photographs. Not souvenirs. Just the last sentences people say before they leave her life.

Her grandmother. A childhood friend. A teacher. A stranger. Twenty-seven people, twenty-seven endings, twenty-seven sentences she refuses to forget.

Then she meets Mikey.

He photographs ordinary moments because he believes that one day, those ordinary moments will become memories. For the first time, Shiny begins to wonder if a person can be remembered for more than the way they leave.

For the first time, she doesn't want to write a goodbye.

She wants to write a beginning.

But everything changes when Shiny opens her old notebook and finds a sentence written in her own handwriting—one she doesn't remember writing:

You won't remember the day he leaves.

Soon, the notebook begins revealing words that haven't been spoken yet.

And Shiny is forced to confront the one thing she has spent her whole life trying to avoid—the possibility of losing someone she finally wants to keep.
