Description

Bhagavad-gita constitutes divine instructions that are recorded in the Bhisma-parva of the Mahabharat (also known as the pancama-veda).

It is the essence of all knowledge, spoken on this planet for the guidance of mankind & is hence extremely popular.

Inspite of being the most widely read philosophical treatise, it has remained a mystery for most people & one may wonder why this is so.

These notes, compiled after taking guidance from the great line of realized spiritual masters, aim to unravel that great mystery & make life more meaningful, ever fresh and joyful for the sincere seeker.

About the Author

Mahaprabhu Caitanya Das was born into a pious family in South India & trained in the basic principles of devotion by his parents Srimati Kalyani & Sri Sukumar. He especially remembers his grandmother Srimati Sreedevi, who instilled in him good values & affection for the Supreme Lord. His grandfather Sri Narayana who devotedly read Srimad-Bhagavatam (Bhagavata Purana) everyday, endowed him with the blessings needed to make progress in spiritual life.

He acquired degrees in engineering & MBA, & always excelled - be it at the work he did in various companies or in business. In the midst of the hustle & bustle of materialistic culture, he learnt that the only shelter is in the oasis of spiritual practices, which alone can relieve the sufferings forced upon one in this world of duality.

The values instilled in his childhood helped water the seed of Bhakti which his spiritual master, his Guru Maharaj His Holiness Jayapataka Swami placed in him at the time of initiation. The fire of devotion in him is being fanned slowly but surely, by many elevated souls he fortunately encounters.

His commitment to the spiritual path is getting stronger and stronger, thanks to wonderful writings & the association of the devotees of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. He acknowledges his eternal debt to his Gurus who have always encouraged him on the path with kindness & sensitivity.

The author confides " The path back home, back to Godhead is a long journey & I am just another traveler.

This work is dedicated to my Guru who comes in a great line of Spiritual Masters starting from Lord Krishna Himself. By his grace I feel enthused, because I feel a constant flow of the Lord's mercy every day of my fortunate life. Along this journey we may have many challenges.

I am confident that by regularly reading this great book of wisdom, remembering its meaning, & meditating upon it, great help will come to those who are on this path. I pray that the Lord will help you just as He is kindly helping me. By His grace, whenever I have been regular & sincere in my spiritual practices, I have never felt any difficulty - rather everything auspicious has been in plenty.

So please be regular in your study and practice - and life will be a joyous experience "
