Description

Beyond My Father’s House is my fourth non-fiction book and is somewhat biographical. A friendship—between a young 15-year-old Indian boy and a 23-year old American circus performer—born in Bombay in 1963, is renewed years later in Oklahoma City in 1995 during the time of the bombing tragedy that cost 168 lives, 13 of them children. It has everything imaginable: Ethos, pathos, and apotheosis.
The thesis for the use of apotheosis is this: how can divinity even be a conduit for its expression when our most vulnerable and our most precious inheritance, our children, are treated with such cruelty? I was the fortunate one, not to be a Bhangi’s child. From my lofty position in a third-floor tenement window, I was one with them.
