Why do we need another book on agile and software testing?
The question is why we need another book on software testing and agile methodology. In order to get the answer to this question, the author shares that when he was about to start working with software engineers in an agile environment as a software test engineer, he had much less knowledge of this methodology. All the knowledge on this methodology that he could get at that point in time was obtained from online definitions or by word-of-mouth explanations by fellow engineers. It was quite unclear how software testing fits in with this type of software development methodology.
Some books on this topic are found to be very elaborate. It would take someone an ample amount of time to go through all the details and grasp whatever they intend to learn about. Due to limited availability of time and responsibility to deliver on promises, those elaborate definitions and content are difficult to go through swiftly unless someone is very much into reading.
So by putting together this book the author tries to briefly present whatever he has learnt from those early days till now. He has tried to present his learning in the most concise and precise way he could, in the hope that in future, if a young software test engineer happens to arrive at the same or a similar situation, they can quickly refer to this book. They can then have a decent understanding of what agile work environments are, how work is done following the agile methodology, what the things to expect are, and how to succeed at the respective job.
I am a teacher in engineering college and I read this book as it was shared to me by the author. It has high quality content which is very good for upcoming engineers in IT, Computers, Electronics field. They should know how work is done in the industry currently and this book provides the right content. I would recommend this to all engineering students, freshers and newly joined software engineers who are about to start work in agile environment.
Very good content. As an experienced professional also I found it knowledgable. Explained agile terminology and tips are of much use. The book tells you a lot in very less words that has to be appreciated very much.
One of the best books which is short and to the point. I learnt good tips from reading this book on how to grow and succeed in testing. Also it is good read for new comers and freshers or interested people in knowing how work is done in Silicon valley nowadays.
