Description

For three hundred years, a woman has been singing in the forbidden corridors of Rathore Palace. And whenever her song is heard, someone dies.
Rudra Rathore was six when he first heard her.
A haunting melody. The chime of silver anklets. A locked door. And his mother's terrified warning.
Never follow the song.
Twenty-seven years later, death has returned to Rathore Palace.
As the formidable heir to an ancient dynasty, Rudra has inherited more than a royal legacy. He has inherited a darkness his family refuses to acknowledge.
And then there is Ira Devrai.
The woman he was never meant to love. The descendant of a family the Rathore have hated for generations.
When an ancient curse draws them together, Rudra and Ira uncover traces of a forgotten princess, a forbidden love and a betrayal buried beneath three centuries of silence.
But the deeper they search, the more terrifying the truth becomes.
Someone has been waiting for them.
And the woman in the West Wing is still singing.
The question is no longer who will die when she sings.
It is what will happen when she finally stops.
A haunting tale of forbidden love, royal secrets and a curse that refuses to die.

About the Author

A Little About Me

Hello there! I'm Meethi—a hopeless romantic, an enthusiastic storyteller, a mountain lover and someone who is suspiciously cheerful for a person so fascinated by ghosts!

Originally from the scenic state of Odisha and currently navigating the delightful chaos of Bengaluru, I'm a working professional by day and a wanderer of imaginary worlds whenever life permits.

I have an incurable love for travelling, especially to the mountains. The colder, mistier and more breathtakingly beautiful, the better! Give me snow-capped peaks, winding mountain roads, a cosy little cottage and a steaming cup of blue tea, and I'm practically in heaven. Although, knowing me, I'll probably spend half the trip wondering whether that abandoned house on the hillside is haunted.

I adore fiction, travelogues, movies, horror podcasts and AI-narrated YouTube stories. I'm particularly drawn to spooky tales set in hill stations and romances that make your heart do ridiculous things. And yes, I love both books and their movie adaptations—though I reserve the right to dramatically declare, "The book was better!"

Also, as my name might suggest, I have an enormous weakness for anything sweet. Desserts, chocolates, pastries—I'm an equal-opportunity admirer. My sweet tooth has absolutely no intention of growing up.

Now, a little about the wonderfully patient people in my life.

First comes my sister, whom I love to the absolute core. She has been the first victim of practically every story I've ever invented—my original audience, unofficial critic and lifelong subscriber to my unsolicited storytelling sessions. Whether she ever volunteered for the role is debatable. Whether she can unsubscribe is not.

And then there's my husband, the brave soul I've successfully bogged down with my antics for an entire decade. Between my dramatic storytelling, spontaneous plans and endless chatter, I believe he deserves a medal for extraordinary patience. Possibly two. Although I'm convinced he secretly enjoys the entertainment!

I'm an extrovert, an eternal optimist and a firm believer that life is far too short to be taken too seriously. I love laughter, good company, spontaneous adventures and finding happiness in the smallest things.

My debut novel, When She Stopped Singing, brings together two of my favourite obsessions—romance that makes your heart race and horror that makes you think twice before switching off the lights.

So, if we ever meet, let's talk about mountains, movies, mysteries or absolutely anything under the sun.

Just bring something sweet. We'll get along famously!

Hopelessly romantic. Suspiciously fascinated by ghosts. Unreasonably cheerful about both.

With love, laughter and a generous helping of dessert,

Meethi SD ♡
