“We must acquire a lifestyle which has as its goal maximum freedom and happiness for the individual, not a maximum Gross National Product.” Paul Erlich
Happiness is a concept that people and policymakers strive to improve, whether intentionally or unintentionally. However, it is an ambiguous concept that lacks a universally accepted definition and is frequently subject to competing interpretations. Happiness is commonly regarded as a description of the state of people's lives. The "happiness index" has also become a hot topic in academia around the world in recent years, while some government agencies see it as a practical issue.
This book attempts to present the abstract concept of Happiness in a systematic and scientific manner. This literary work attempts to shed light on the various operational and measurable definitions of Happiness, the concept of Happiness across borders and cultures, various Happiness theories, models, domains, and indicators, and finally the Happiness Movement worldwide, which is the application of this concept in the formulation of public policy.
To all the readers, researchers, and happiness-seekers out there, I offer my sincere hopes that you find value in my work.
Hitendra Kumar Virani
