Sri Aurobindo translated about 3,650 vedic verses, out of total 10,550, mostly in his vedic works - The Secret of the Veda, Hymns to the Mystic Fire, and Vedic and Philological Studies as well as in his other works - Life Divine and Record of Yoga. Mukund Ainapure intends to translate, in the light of Sri Aurobindo’s spiritual interpretation, selected vedic verses (out of about 6,900 not translated by him), in a series of volumes – “Veda in the light of Sri Aurobindo”, based on the "Vedic Dictionary in the Light of Sri Aurobindo"compiled from the data-base extracted from all the volumes of Mukund Ainapure's 15-volume Companion series.
The series will be brought out in deity-wise mandala-wise Volumes (eg the earlier Volume on INDRA, LORD OF LIGHT IN MIND - Mandala 1; and the present Volume on SOMA PAVAMANA, PURE DELIGHT OF EXISTENCE - Mandala 9), as and when ready, for ease of publication.
Hopefully, this series may eventually help fulfil the wish expressesed by Sri Aurobindo for translation of the entire Rig Veda in the light of spiritual interpretation revealing the secret spiritual meaning of Vedic terms, the real sense of Vedic symbols and the psychological functions of the Vedic Gods.
