Naresh Rijhwani is a distinguished structural engineer, author and chronicler of Sindhi heritage. Over a distinguished career spanning more than four decades, he led the design and execution of major industrial and infrastructure projects in India and overseas, holding senior leadership positions with global organisations including NTPC.
Born into a Sindhi Hindu family whose roots trace back to Larkana and Sukkur in Sindh, Naresh witnessed India's remarkable transformation from the post-Independence years to the modern era. His life has been shaped by personal challenges, professional milestones, international assignments and the enduring values of family, resilience and integrity.
Having completed a fulfilling engineering career, Naresh devoted himself to writing and documenting the stories, traditions and lived experiences that have shaped both his family and the Sindhi community. He is the author of Echoes of Sindhi Heritage, a widely appreciated collection of essays on Sindhi history, culture, festivals and traditions and The Sindhi Cuisine Cookbook, which preserves authentic family recipes alongside the stories and rituals that surround them. Together, these works form part of his ongoing Sindhi Heritage Series, dedicated to safeguarding the memories and traditions of a community dispersed by Partition.
Through the Winds of Change is his most personal work to date. More than a memoir, it is a journey through seven decades of life, tracing the experiences of an ordinary Indian who lived through extraordinary times—from post-Partition India and the Emergency to an international engineering career and a lifetime of personal triumphs, losses and enduring relationships. Written primarily for his family and future generations, the memoir reflects his belief that our stories, values and memories deserve to be preserved as carefully as the structures we build.
