The Nāṭyaśāstra Sketchbook – Volume I
This illustrated notebook is the first volume of an ongoing visual exploration of the Nāṭyaśāstra through drawing, observation, and personal study.
Rather than presenting the complete treatise, this volume focuses on a specific selection of material drawn from the early chapters of the Nāṭyaśāstra. The original text contains many more chapters, concepts, and areas of study that are not included here.
The drawings were developed as visual notes during the author's study of the Nāṭyaśāstra, inspired by the teachings of Vithya Arasu and informed by the research of Dr. Padma Subrahmanyam. They are intended as a companion for reflection, memory, and personal practice rather than as a complete manual or authoritative reference.
This volume may be of interest to dancers, students of Indian performing arts, researchers, and anyone who enjoys learning through visual observation and drawing.
Please note that this book does not contain the complete Nāṭyaśāstra and should be understood as one part of a much larger ongoing project.
