Rahul Basu is an engineer, educator, researcher, and author with extensive experience in engineering education and applied research. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and has pursued graduate education at UCLA.

His professional and academic interests span fluid mechanics, turbomachinery, heat transfer, engineering analysis, applied mathematics, mathematical modelling, computational methods, and engineering problem solving. His research experience includes work in areas related to mechanical engineering, materials, and engineering analysis.

Rahul Basu has taught and conducted research at several engineering institutions in India, including the Indian Institute of Science, PSG College of Technology, Visvesvaraya Technological University, Madanapalle Institute of Technology and Science, and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University. He has also been associated with DRDO-sponsored research programmes and the TEQIP programme, and was awarded a UGC Emeritus Professorship.

As an author, he focuses on making technically demanding subjects clear, structured, and accessible to students. His books emphasize worked examples, solved problems, practical applications, examination preparation, and systematic revision, helping students bridge the gap between engineering theory and actual problem solving
