Re: Happiness@WORK

In journalism, there is a saying ‘whenever in doubt, cut that out’. But work is not about taking the easy route. Purpose, challenges and satisfaction form the core ingredients of quality work. And I believe Sai sir’s book helps you achieve those three basic elements at work place and in life.
So happy reading ‘Happiness At Work’

Re: Happiness@WORK

This compilation by the debutant Sai R Vaidyanathan of his own columns, has a plethora of quotations and examples from our holy scriptures, some of our great epics and also from the sacred religious books of other religions as well. He has been successful in drawing suitable incidents and anecdotes from the lives of great men and women who have helped shape the history of our world and from the lives and exploits of iconic characters from the epics written by luminaries like Veda Vyasa and Thiruvalluvar, that showcase the person or character's ethical values and their steadfastness in performing their duty. The examples used by him are apt and I being too young to work right now, get a lot of quotations and useful examples from his columns that i use for presentations and debates in my school. I found them to be of great help. I was looking forward to this compilation so that i can get all the examples and quotations at one place. i especially like "Gita Gyan" the box that appeared in some of his columns and has great quotations from The Bhagwad Gita.

Re: Happiness@WORK

What’s great about this book is that it is deeply philosophical yet does not use the encrypted language which only intellectuals can understand.
It can be used as a reference whenever faced with a difficult situation. The historical/ mythological instances are familiar, yet one never connects them to modern life the way the Sai has. I have always admired his work, and now that he has put my name in print (on page 1!), my love for him has grown by leaps and bounds!

@Sai: Your articles have helped me a lot in my professional life and I am grateful to you for a book on philosophy which is not boring. I plan to keep a copy of it in my office.

Re: Happiness@WORK

I appreciate the author’s rigorous effort in putting together gems of ancient wisdom in a lucid form to guide the modern-day working class in situations that many of them find distressing and sapping. The book establishes a unique bridge between tradition and modernity. For his avid readers who have been following him through his weekly column in the newspaper, the compilation will be a one-stop destination to seek solution to a their work-related problems. Putting together around 1,000 instances from the lives of the greats of yesteryears can well be termed as a marvelous effort.

Re: Happiness@WORK: a great work

Having read the author's column a few times in The Tribune and having remembered the anecdotes quite vividly, one always felt the need to have a compilation of them handy for future reference. This book has come out at an opportune time.
The presentation in each chapter is simple. A situation is presented and then apt analogies from our ancient traditions on how to deal with the situation. This makes it very easy to grasp and relate to them. And these solutions can be applied in all kinds of everyday situations, not just at a formal workplace.
This book reminds me of the Amar Chitra Kathas we read as kids where on the superficial level, one would enjoy the stories from mythologies and history and without really realizing learn a moral at the end. Amar Chitra Kathas can become an addiction for its readers and so is the regular column of the author in The Tribune every week which one would not like to miss. Great job. I would love to have this book in my collection.

Happiness@WORK

This book is truly amazing. It encompasses a wide gamut. It can help the employees, employers, educationists, students, job seekers, those dissatisfied in their jobs and the list can go on.
* The plus point of the book is that it is not preachy.
* The topic is covered in a small capsule. The heading says it all.
* There are numerous examples ranging from mythological figures to historical characters and even people from the 20th century, that have been interlinked to today's work-place situation.
* This makes it easy to understand and relate to what is being told.

Being a teacher, I found it very useful for my students from the point of view of communication skills, working together, leadership, team spirit etc. I would love to see it on the shelf of my school library.

Happiness to all !

It has been a long journey of my association with the author. Personally, I have learned a great deal from the articles, now, compiled in this wonderful book. It has, certainly, transformed me into a better human being. Today, I remember, the day when I wrote my first feedback to Sai Sir and I was so thrilled to receive an overwhelming reply from his side. He gave me his personal contact no. & residential address and I know it was a bit freak but been a real fan of his thoughts and writing, I could not stop myself and when on to meet him personally at his residence. I found him to be rarest of a kind living on this earth. It was a great experience and I gained a lot from him personally.

What to talk about the articles he writes ? I have no words to express my excitement and love for the quality of his writing. It seems, as if, all the Holy scriptures are talking to me in one go ! The experience of reading this article every week, is something out of this world & divine in itself.

For the readers of this book, I strongly believe, it will be a life changing experience. Every human being alive in this materialistic world, irrespective of the religion, must read this book & connect with the Divine.

At last but certainly not the least, I would like to congratulate Sai Sir for having successfully compiled all his Gems of ancient wisdom in this valuable book !

Thank you Sir, for having me in your life !

Your thoughts mean a lot to me!

With warm regards

Yours Turely

Re: Happiness@WORK

What should you do if things start seeming less and less clear by the day? Well, to gain some perspective, you take a few steps back! Going forward is the goal, but at times, a few, just a few steps backwards is the way to go about it. That is what Happiness@WORK is all about!
As a country, with arguably the richest cultural heritage in the world, we have a literature that spans it all. Instances referred to, in the book, are applicable to so many real-life situations today that it amazes and pleases you, all at once.
Be it Krishna, or Arjuna, we can find so many common meeting points with them throughout the book that it becomes impossible to be motivated and get a move on.
All the credit to the author, who has not only showcased his own deep knowledge and understanding of our culture, but has worked out a beautiful, and innovative way to thread the past and the present together. It is beautifully, yet simplistically, written and I would want to thank the author for untangling so many things for everyone struggling to make sense of the breathtaking pace of professional world.
Its a must-read for everyone, irrespective of whether you have worked or not. For it contains the simple answers, to so many of our complex-looking questions. Great job!!
