Description
LGBTQ
As a fictional narrative rooted in the author's advocacy, Gender Transformation likely explores personal journeys of gender identity, societal pressures, acceptance, and transformation both internal and external. It aligns with Udmale's mission to educate, awaken, and foster empathy within Indian society toward LGBTQ+ individuals.
Since the book is set for release this month (January 2026), detailed plot summaries or reviews are not yet widely available. It promises to be a thoughtful addition to Marathi LGBTQ+ literature, promoting understanding and progressive change.
We fondly call Santosh Udmale "Babuji." If someone says today, "I don't know this person at all!"—it would indeed be surprising. Through his own writing, he has a beautiful ability to make readers completely identify with the subject. In works like Manachya Rangbhoomivar, Pranayveda, Aapla Manus, and many others, Babuji has left a distinct mark.
He joined Manachya Rangbhoomivar driven by his deep concern for homosexuality and a strong desire to do something meaningful about it.
Being homosexual is not a crime. It is not any kind of perversion. No doctor can treat it because it is not a disease. To spread such ideas to others, he has written numerous poems, articles, and stories.
Through his social, intellectual, and humorous writing, Santoshji has time and again left everyone astonished. Even before touching upon homosexual themes, he had written many poems like Mana Majhya Vikrut Ho and (It's Not Easy Being Gay).
Continuing this journey, with the intention of providing some guidance to the homosexual community, he joined Manachya Rangbhoomivar under the name Santosh Udmale. On the group's "Rangpanchami" theme, he published his first story titled "Rangpanchami" on the platform. Due to Babuji's writing and his affectionate bond with the group, he soon became active as the group's deputy director. By writing one powerful story after another, he earned his place as the main director of the group.
My salute to such a fiery, resolute writer and to the edge of his pen.
