Description

VISITOR - To Love or to be Loved follows the journey of Neil, a young man who decides to unlearn the predictable map laid out for his life. Feeling trapped by quiet conformity and the pressure of a government examination he has no desire to take, Neil leaves his hometown with a battered suitcase belonging to his father. His travels take him into the mountains of Himachal Pradesh, where his initial breakdown slowly transforms into a profound breakthrough. The story is not about conquering peaks or checking off tourist destinations, rather, it is about the unmapped spaces of human affection. Along the road, Neil learns life-altering lessons from the people he meets. He experiences the quiet willingness of locals who help fix what is broken. He discovers that true lightness means emptying the mind of the need to possess a place. He learns from farmers, weavers, and fellow travelers that belonging is never about ownership. Ultimately, Neil's journey forces him to confront a difficult question: is he truly ready to learn how to love, or is he just waiting to be loved?

About the Author

Snehil Satija is the author and publisher of the novelette VISITOR - To Love or to be Loved, with its first edition released in 2026. Prior to VISITOR, Satija published the poetry collection Echoes of the Moment: The In-Between in November 2025. This 21-poem collection explores themes of philosophy, human emotion, and self-discovery, and it makes a notable cameo within the story of VISITOR as a thin paperback with a blue cover that the character Nitika gifts to Neil to help him when he feels he is running away from himself. Drawing creative inspiration directly from personal experiences, the surrounding world, and the stories shared by both friends and strangers, Satija holds a deep fascination for how differently individuals can interpret and understand the exact same world. While his books are works of fiction, Satija seamlessly weaves in traces of real emotions, places, and conversations, creating stories that serve as a meeting point between lived reality and shared human experiences.
