I am at it again, writing on frivolous matters. Some fifteen such write ups have been collated in a small booklet titled "Of Nostalgia And Nightmares" and set to be launched at Palakkad.

Mostly the snippets are based on incidents in my life, childhood to now when I am 87+, certain mention worthy ’news of the day’. Many are nostalgia oriented which many of us masticate as we grow old. Happy I am able to remember incidents, names and put them to words. Normally this is the age when dementia and Alzheimers play havoc on one's memory. Thankful to God for sparing me so far.

Immensely happy that I dedicate this book to my late colleague, Sri. Halagi Gowder, who was an enlightened trade union leader at the sugar complex in N.Karnataka, where I worked. He was a successful sugar cane grower and well versed in Kannada sanskriti. Covid snatched him, like so many others, when he was looking forward to a peaceful life, post retirement.

A graduate of Madras University, career wise has been in the sugar industry for well over forty years. Keen shuttle badminton player and won the Madras State Veterans Trophy. In Rotary he is a Paul Harris Fellow and led a group study to California. He was awarded the Karnataka Shree Puraskar by The Kannada Sahitya Academy. He has instituted scholarships in memory of his father at St. Berchmans College, Changanassery, Kerala and another in memory of his driver, Basheer, to benefit school children in Lalgudi. Blessed with a happy and supportive family comprising wife, son and daughter, daughter in law and two grandchildren. Settled in Bengaluru for a decade now.
