Description

Some letters are written.
Some are hidden.
Some are entrusted to another generation.
And some wait quietly until the right person is ready to unfold them.

In these ten deeply human stories of love, grief, family, memory, and emotional inheritance, the past is never truly gone. It lingers behind framed photographs, inside old trunks, within sealed envelopes, across winter afternoons, forgotten orchards, railway platforms, unanswered phone calls, and the quiet corners of ordinary homes.

A granddaughter discovers pages her grandmother protected for decades. A father finds a way to speak only after he is gone. A widow continues writing to the husband she cannot stop loving. A young woman learns that leaving one life may begin with writing a single letter to herself. Across every story, forgotten words become unexpected acts of grace, revealing not a different past, but a deeper understanding of it.

Set across India and woven together by memory, family, and the enduring power of human connection, Folded Into Memory is the opening volume of The Archive of Ordinary Lives, a continuing literary fiction series celebrating the extraordinary emotional histories hidden within ordinary lives.

About the Author

Vivek Kansal lives in Gurugram, India, with his wife, Poonam, and their daughter, Siya.

He holds a Master's degree in Computer Applications and spent more than two decades building a career in the information technology industry. During an unexpected pause in that journey, he returned to a long-held dream of writing fiction that explored the emotional lives hidden within ordinary families and everyday moments.

His stories are drawn not from extraordinary events but from the quiet truths that often go unnoticed: conversations left unfinished, memories preserved in unexpected places, and the enduring ways people continue to shape one another long after they have gone.

Folded Into Memory is his debut work of fiction and the opening volume of The Archive of Ordinary Lives, an ongoing literary fiction series celebrating the extraordinary emotional histories found within ordinary lives.
