Description

He had everything he was supposed to want, a respected career, a loving family, a lifetime of responsibilities fulfilled.

It began with a Thursday meeting in his third month. He never forgot what was said. Neither did the man who said it.

THE MAN HE FORGOT TO BE follows one working life from twenty-one to fifty, and adds up what it costs to be strong for twenty-five years without ever once being asked how you are.

A young man joins a company with a notebook full of ideas. Twenty-five years later he is respected, senior, and cannot remember the last time he said what he actually thought.

Nobody is fired. Nobody is destroyed. Nothing dramatic happens at all.

That is the point.

This is not a story about failure, it is a story about remembering who you were before the world told you who to become.

A short book, meant to be read in one sitting, and carried for much longer.

For every man who keeps showing up. And for everyone who loves one.

About the Author

Ankit Chaudhary is a banker by profession and a student of the human condition by choice.

With more than two decades in Indian banking, He holds the CFE, CAMS and CAIIB credentials and an MBA in Finance, though he considers the more useful qualification a long habit of noticing what people do not say.

The Man He Forgot To Be is a work of fiction. Its characters are invented. What is not invented is the feeling underneath them, the weight a person can carry while appearing perfectly fine, and the silence that nobody hears.

He lives in Manali, Himachal Pradesh, where the mountains have taught him that stillness is not weakness. It is where healing begins.

This is his first work of fiction. It will not be his last.
