Description
In an era defined by rapid technological advancement and growing environmental concerns,
Green IT has emerged as a critical paradigm in the field of information technology. This chapter
provides a comprehensive exploration of Green IT, delving into its definition, historical
context, environmental impact, regulatory landscape, and key stakeholders. As we navigate the
intricate world of sustainable computing, we will uncover the complex relationships between
technology, sustainability, and environmental stewardship, providing readers with a robust
foundation for understanding the principles and practices of Green IT in today's digital
landscape. The convergence of information technology and environmental sustainability has
given rise to Green IT, a comprehensive approach that seeks to minimize the ecological
footprint of computing while maximizing its efficiency and effectiveness. This paradigm shift
is not merely a trend but a fundamental reimagining of how we develop, deploy, and manage
technology in an increasingly resource-constrained world.
