Rural communities in developing regions often remain main excluded from digital services
due to a combination of infrastructural limitations, fragmented solutions, and substan- tial
language barriers. This paper presents Village Gentle, a multilingual, AI-enabled platform
that integrates seven core services relevant to rural livelihoods: crop recommendation,
weather advisories, pest and disease identification, basic health- care guidance, economic
opportunity discovery, financial and scheme navigation, and community issue reporting. The
system supports interaction in more than 20 Indian languages using both text and speech
and combines large language models, vision models, and rule-based components with
external data sources. A blockchain-based subscription system deployed on the Celo
network manages access to premium features through server-side transaction processing,
eliminating technical barriers for rural users.
