About the Author

Varun is a Grade Twelve student at The International School of Bangalore. He got intrigued by the mysteries of species and traits when visiting the tropical rainforest of Meghalaya which was bursting with vegetation and insect life. His talk series, White Owl also brought him close to questions about the human cell that baffled renowned biologists around the world. These questions are captured in the compendium for the White Owl talk Series called “Frontier: The new boundaries of human pursuit”.

He decided to write this book on genetics in response to recurring comments on how he had his mom’s eyes. As an ardent Biology student, he found some answers to this question in the studies of Mendel and Rosalind Franklin. When writing this book, he hoped to be able to simplify unnecessarily complex explanations while avoiding broken metaphors.

Readers will get a solid base to understand the building blocks of life and realize the value that our characteristics hold hundreds and thousands of years of traits passed down by our ancestors. Scientists are trying to understand the invisible code in our cells that acts as a crucible to this intergenerational tree of life. This book is an attempt to make this code less mysterious for more and more readers.
