Born on December 27, 1944, into a humble farming family in the village of Nangli Mataur near Meerut, Sh. Hira Lal Verma led a life that was a testament to dedication, intellect, and quiet passion. After completing his early education in Meerut, he earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Arts, followed by a law degree (LL.B.) from Delhi University in the early 1970s, eventually establishing a successful practice as a lawyer. The years between 1965 and 1971 marked a remarkably full chapter of his life. While serving the nation at the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and pursuing his legal studies, he also embraced the profound joys of family, marrying Smt. Shakuntala Verma and welcoming their first son, Yogesh. It was amidst this extraordinary balancing act—juggling national duty, academia, marriage, and fatherhood—that his creative spirit truly flourished, and his inner poet found its voice. Sh. Verma passed away in 2007 after a prolonged illness. He was survived by his devoted wife, two sons, Yogesh and Anantesh, and a daughter, Veena, who continue to carry his memory forward.
