Description

Balidana: The Guardian of Kashi

What if memory could survive death?
What if a city could call you back across lifetimes?
And what if some promises were never meant to end with one life?

In the ancient city of Kashi, where the Ganga flows beside temples, ashes, prayers and centuries of memory, seven strangers are drawn together by events none of them can fully explain.

At the centre of their journey stands Swami Shivānanda, a former scientist whose life was shattered by the loss of his son. Seeking peace in Kashi, he discovers something far stranger than healing: recurring visions of an ancient temple, forgotten battles, seven guardians—and a mysterious white bull named Nandu, whose connection to the past seems impossible.

As the seven begin experiencing flashes of lives they do not remember living, fragments of an unfinished story emerge.

They have stood together before.

They have fought together.

They have sacrificed together.

And across different ages, they may have returned again and again for one purpose—to protect what they once swore never to abandon.

Their journey carries them through devotion, grief, history, sacrifice and the turbulent memory of Vishwanath, weaving fictional past-life narratives with the spiritual atmosphere of Kashi and episodes inspired by the long history of the sacred city.

From ancient resistance and Naga warriors to the rebuilding associated with Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar, the story moves between centuries while asking a deeper question:

Can a temple live not only in stone, but in the people who refuse to forget it?

Blending historical fiction, spirituality, mystery, reincarnation, science, emotion and cinematic adventure, Balidana: The Guardian of Kashi is ultimately a story about what human beings choose to protect when history breaks what they love.

It is also the story of a grieving father discovering that faith does not always return what has been lost.

Sometimes it gives us the strength to carry the loss differently.

Sometimes Shiva answers through silence.

And sometimes—

He calls us back.

For readers who enjoy spiritual fiction, Indian historical novels, mysteries of reincarnation, stories of sacrifice, and emotionally immersive journeys through Kashi and the world of Lord Shiva.

About the Author

NEERAJ SINGH is the author of Balidana: The Guardian of Kashi, a literary fiction novel
in which history, faith, memory, sacrifice and the timeless spiritual presence of Kashi
converge.
Professionally, Neeraj works as a Cybersecurity Specialist in the Information Technology
Industry, a world shaped by precision, investigation, risk and the search for what lies
beneath the surface. He holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Cyber Law & Cyber Forensics
(PGDCLCF) from the National Law School of India University, Bengaluru.
That background has sharpened his fascination with evidence, hidden patterns, human
behaviors and the consequences of individual choices. Alongside it runs an enduring
interest in Indian history, spirituality, sacred traditions and cultural memory—the forces
that shape the emotional and philosophical landscape of his fiction.
His writing explores the meeting point between science and spirituality, logic and faith,
history and memory, technology and tradition. Cinematic in scale yet intimate in emotion,
his stories return to questions of loss, courage, destiny, devotion and the bonds that may
outlive a single generation.
For Neeraj, Kashi is more than a setting. It is a living symbol of continuity: a city where
destruction and rebuilding, grief and faith, endings and beginnings have stood beside one
another for centuries.
Through Balidana: The Guardian of Kashi, he invites readers into a world where forgotten
vows return, sacrifice echoes across time, and ordinary lives are called toward something
greater than themselves.
