This book is a collection of original dance compositions created in the classical tradition suited for South Indian dance forms, written under the pen name "Neela Rama." Drawing on a background in Bharatanatyam and Carnatic music, the author has composed items across the full range of traditional forms in a Margam — Pushpanjali, Jatiswara, Swarabhoomike, Swara Kavya, Shabda, Kritis, Dharu Varna, Pada Varna, Swarajati, Padam, Javali, and Thillana — including two original creations, the Swarabhoomike and the Swara Kavya.

Many of the pieces are also tied to specific deities from historical temples across Karnataka, inviting dancers to research and reflect the temples' historical significance through their performance — treating dance itself as a form of visual documentation.
