Spirulina (Arthrospira platensis) is a filamentous, tiny Cyanobacterium that gets its name from its filaments' spiral or helical structure. Spirulina is considered a superfood because of its nutritious value, which will be good to outwit malnutrition and other health-related issues. With a protein level of 63 percent dry matter, the microalga spirulina is a viable food ingredient for expanding the repertory of protein sources available for human consumption. According to studies, unique food products that are produced with the consumer in mind are the most successful. Novel product concepts using spirulina extrudates were developed based on sensory data in order to generate potentially viable consumer-oriented products since extrusion has been proved to be suitable for texturizing protein using spirulina At the same time, it is an ideal business for farmers and young entrepreneurs. The current book is dedicated to enthusiastic entrepreneurs who want to do entrepreneurship but don't have proper guidance regarding the Spirulina Farming, Production of Value Added Products, and most importantly, their marketing. This book gives an idea about the storage and training program availability in India also.

About the Author

Priya Lokare is an Asst. Professor of Botany at Loknete Ramdas Patil Dhumal Arts, Science & Commerce College, Rahuri, Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, India, 413705. She has completed her M.Sc. Botany from S. P. Pune University Pune, Maharashtra, India. She is having fond of Botany and is always interested in doing something creative and fruitful. Priya has been published thirteen research papers and one book chapter. She has seven years of teaching experience with undergraduate and postgraduate level students. Apart from this, she has published one book, ‘Spirulina Farming- To Ingrain the Entrepreneurship.’ Including that, she has participated in many States, National, and International level seminars and conferences and presented research papers. She has completed a one-month Induction Programme held at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Pune from 12th Nov-8th Dec 2018. She has also completed ten days FDP Programme at Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune, on the ‘Biodiversity and Chemical Ecology’ from 20th Feb. to 29th Feb. 2020.
