Description

Indian Knowledge Systems: Bridging Ancient Wisdom with Modern Science and Technology presents a comprehensive and interdisciplinary exploration of India's rich intellectual heritage and its relevance in addressing contemporary scientific, technological, and societal challenges. Rooted in centuries of accumulated wisdom, Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS) encompass diverse disciplines such as philosophy, mathematics, astronomy, medicine, agriculture, architecture, metallurgy, linguistics, governance, environmental science, and ethics. This book demonstrates how these traditional knowledge systems continue to inspire innovation and contribute to sustainable development in the modern world.
The book examines the scientific foundations of ancient Indian knowledge while highlighting its integration with emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Remote Sensing, the Internet of Things (IoT), Blockchain, Digital Humanities, and Smart Heritage Conservation. By bridging classical wisdom with modern scientific inquiry, it offers new perspectives on solving complex global issues related to healthcare, climate change, environmental sustainability, education, agriculture, and digital transformation.
Designed from an interdisciplinary perspective, the book brings together contributions from experts across engineering, computer science, environmental sciences, health sciences, management, education, archaeology, and social sciences. It critically explores the evidence-based relevance of Indian Knowledge Systems and their role in fostering innovation, resilience, ethical leadership, and sustainable development in the twenty-first century.
Special emphasis is placed on the alignment of Indian Knowledge Systems with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), demonstrating how indigenous knowledge can enrich research, education, public policy, and technological advancement. Through case studies, contemporary research, and practical applications, the book illustrates the potential of integrating traditional wisdom with cutting-edge scientific methodologies.
This book serves as a valuable resource for researchers, academicians, policymakers, scientists, engineers, postgraduate students, and professionals seeking a deeper understanding of India's scientific heritage and its transformative role in shaping future innovations. It encourages interdisciplinary collaboration and inspires new research directions that connect ancient knowledge with modern science and technology for the benefit of society.
