About the Author

The highly revered Yogaguru Yogacharya Pandit Damodar Lal Sharma Ji has been teaching yoga for over 75 years. As of 2026, he is 98 years old; yet, it is a testament to the miracle of yoga that he still appears as youthful as a 40-year-old. Over the past seven decades, he has never consumed any allopathic (English) medicines, nor has he ever fallen ill. He remained healthy even during the COVID-19 pandemic, continuing to conduct yoga sessions for others throughout that period. All of this demonstrates the greatness of yoga. He not only embodies the yogic lifestyle but is also constantly engaged in propagating and promoting it. Whether residing in Gwalior, Jaipur, or elsewhere, his daily routine begins every morning with a yoga class, where he guides participants through a range of postures—from simple to advanced—helping them reap the benefits. Thousands of people have benefited from regularly attending his classes. Even at this age, he remains not only completely fit but also brimming with energy. He has conducted yoga classes and camps in numerous cities across the country, with regular sessions still ongoing in many of them. Honored with multiple awards—including the 'Health Award' carrying a prize of one lakh rupees from Arogya Bharati—Yogaguru Pandit Damodar Lal Sharma has been dedicated to yoga and practicing it regularly for nearly 75 years. He initially learned yoga from his father and later refined his practice under the guidance of his yoga guru. He has dedicated his entire life to yoga. He hails from a lineage associated with the royal family of Bharatpur; his ancestral home still stands at Basan Darwaza in Bharatpur.
