Meditation seems to be a simple process. This simplicity makes it boring. Sitting idle, ignoring the thoughts that arise in mind, trying to avoid them, or simply observe them as they are, does not seem to make sense initially. Nothing seems to be happening. It is only when one decides to continue anyway that one starts realizing, something is changing inside him. The science has already established its beneficial effects on mind and in the treatment of mental illness. In a difficult situation when mind is going hay wire, emotions are running high, thoughts are tormenting; a mature mind automatically goes into a thoughtless but fully aware state. A meditative state comes naturally to a trained practicenor. He realizes that, if he has any problem even physical one the solution begins from the mind.
The book begins with the various scientific researches and their findings about the related subjects. Later it delves into its history and metaphysical aspects which is precisely the origin of meditation practices. Though not exactly an ‘how to do’ book, yet certain techniques are discussed in detail in order to make one understand the process. Meditation is an ancient science and goal was not mental health. The practice was not limited to any community, religion, civilization; it was widespread in various forms. There are many texts, scriptures, original as well as translated that one can read, but one has to make efforts to understand it in present context. Meditation is science of different dimension and that is why it is so difficult to understand. The usual laws of science do not apply here as modern science is based on the world made of material that one can sense or detect by instruments. Modern science assumes that the world would be there in exactly the way we see it now, even if there is nobody to sense or detect it. On the other hand ancient wisdom believes that world is the creation of mind, what we see is maya not reality. Meditation is science of mind. There is no sense organ or instrument that can detect material of mind.
An advice to readers; do not get fooled by tall claims of unusual power, siddhis, health and wealth one can gain through this mystic science, you certainly would be disappointed. But I assure you that it will definitely change you in ways which you cannot even imagine.
