Description

He went to Gir looking for lions. He didn't expect the lions to be the ones teaching the lesson.

Nara has spent thirty years doing everything right. The titles. The transformations. The boardrooms that moved because he walked into them. And still, somewhere between one quarter and the next, a question started asking itself that no promotion could answer: does any of this matter, the way I've been made to believe it matters?

So he does something he can barely explain to himself. He leaves it all behind and travels to the last forest on earth where wild Asiatic lions still walk free.

There he meets Simha, a young lion pushed out of his pride, alone and hungry, with nothing but instinct and patience standing between him and the ground he will one day have to earn. And he meets Govind, a guide who speaks only in facts, never in lessons, showing Nara a forest that has never once needed a framework to know exactly how to live.

Nara-Simha offers no principles, no five-step models, no promises. It is a quiet, literary fable about competence built in silence, order that is felt rather than announced, and the long, unglamorous work of becoming someone worth following, told through a man who came to watch a lion and left having watched himself.

For readers of:

Quiet, character-driven fables in the tradition of Patrick Lencioni and Ken Blanchard
Anyone who has succeeded by every visible measure and still felt the question underneath it
Wildlife lovers who want more from a forest than facts
Based on the author's own twenty years photographing lions and tigers across India and Africa, and thirty years leading teams in the corporate world.

No framework. No formula. Just a forest, a lion, and a man finally still enough to listen.

About the Author

For more than three decades, Ujjwal Majumder has led teams and carried decisions in the corporate world, the kind of work that rarely stops asking for more than a person has left to give.

For twenty of those years, alongside it, he has spent his time off differently. In the forests of India, the reserves of southern and eastern Africa, the dry parks of Sri Lanka and waiting quietly for animals that owed him nothing. Lions and tigers most of all, though the list is longer than that.

Nara-Simha is his first book. He offers no framework here and claims no particular wisdom about either world he has spent his life moving between. Only what he noticed, from paying attention to both, and what it slowly taught him about being human.
